About Ake
Tēnā koutou katoa
Ko Kaputerangi, Ko Pūtauaki ngā Maunga.
Kaputerangi and Pūtauaki are the mountains.
Ko te awa e rere mai nei, ko Whakatāne.
The river that flows here is called Whakatāne.
Ko Ngāti Awa te Iwi.
Ngāti Awa is the local tribe.
Ko Mataatua te Waka, ko Toroa te Rangatira.
Mataatua is the waka, Toroa is the chief.
Ko Rurima, Moutohora, me Whakaari ngā moutere kei waho i te Moana nui a Toi te huatahi.
Rurima, Moutohorā and Whakaari are the sacred islands out in the sea of Toi-te-Huatahi (it is believed that Toi was the first to voyage to the region landing in the Whakatāne area bringing the first mānuka tree).
Ko Ake te pakihi Māori ki Whakatāne.
Ake is the name of our firm in which we are situated here in Whakatane.

How we began
Our founders Tania-Rose Tamati, Matthew Davis and Briton Williams met while working at an accounting firm in Whakatāne.
Over time they realised their individual strengths and backgrounds could combine to create a unique and valuable client experience - one where tikanga and Māori concepts and values were integrated with personalised accounting and advisory services, and the latest technology.
The three shared a strong belief that this combination of elements could help all businesses and Māori organisations thrive.
Ake opened its doors in 2016. Since then, we’ve worked along successful organisations within the Eastern Bay of Plenty and beyond, helping them to define their aspirations and unlock their potential.
